Detailed Review of Garmin GPSMAP 64sc

Hunting is a good way to spend a wonderful time. Many people from different countries love to spend their recreational time with outdoor activities. Hunting is one of those thrilling activities people love from the centuries. In search of prey, you have to go to different places in the woods. Many hunters, mostly beginners, get lost in such areas as they don’t know these places thoroughly. That’s why every hunter needs to hunt with a GPS MAP. Remember, a smart hunter never forgets a GPS device in the woods. As a must-have hunting gear, this time I’m going to share my own review of the Garmin GPSMAP 64SC device.

My quick overview of Garmin GPSMAP 64SC

Garmin GPSMAP 64SC is totally an elite buttoned GPS device I found in today’s market. The buttons are very useful when wearing gloves. So, it’ll give you the advantage of using it in winter. Also, the performance of this device is beyond satisfaction.

This device got the quad-helix antenna which can lock-down your position when you are in an open field or in the deep forest. It also provides you up to 10 feet accuracy in both places.

The battery life of Garmin GPSMAP 64SC is impressive, it’ll give you at-list 16 hours usability. Even though it comes with 250,000 preloaded geocaches, except that you’ll get a 4GB of built-in memory where you can easily store more than 5000 waypoints and 200 routes.

Some other amazing features of this device I found was its “smart notification system” that syncs with smartphones. This device also provides you the weather report as you can stay updated about the change of weather when you are outdoor.

Despite all these features, it has a little inconvenience part also. For example, the base map the device comes with is quite limited. It needs to upload the topo map before going out. This device is indeed dependable in extreme weather but the operation of this device is not so smooth as touchscreen devices. Actually, it is a button GPS device it fills little old school style to use but features of the device are all modern.

This is not the end here, the Garmin GPSMAP 64SC device has many more convenience and inconvenience. That’s something I’m going to discuss with you in a bit.

Truly, the signal catching capacity of this device is much more impressive than other expensive ones.

Display

Garmin GPSMAP 64SC comes with a 2.6″ (160 X 240) pixel resolution sunlight-readable display. Which will provide a more clear view when you’re outdoors.

You must be thinking 160X 240 pixel is quite low resolution. But I can tell you, I didn’t find any differences when compared with some other high-resolution devices.

Actually, the 65K color TFT display assures you the clear view and the durability of the display is also lovesome.

Usability

The physical dimension of a Garmin GPSMAP 64SC is 2.4″ x 6.3″ x 1.4″ (6.1 x 16.0 x 3.6 cm) and 8.1 oz (230 g) in weight (with batteries). That’s the reason why it is quite handy to use.

The unit is also water-resistant with an IPX7 rating. When it is an electronic device so battery life is an important part. In this scenario, the NiMH battery will provide you with a rechargeable lifetime of 16 hours.

Speaking of batteries, the device will also run on 2AA size batteries. So, I think it is quite reliable in this range of GPS devices. The portability of this device is excellent. You don’t have to think about the space for it. You can hang it on your vest or backpack with the hook. It is quite helpful to use.

Documentation and Storage Facility

By adding an eight-megapixel flash camera and advanced geotagging capacities, Garmin has unveiled a new horizon in their GPS creation. With the built-in 8-megapixel autofocus camera with a super bright LED flash, that allows you to capture your remarkable moments.

You can even use the camera flash as a flashlight, something that isn’t available on other 64 series units. Also, that picture will automatically be geotagged to the location it was taken. So that you can conveniently navigate back to that place in the future. With a 4GB built-in storage, you can use a microSD card also to increase the storage.

Wireless Sharing

GPSMAP 64sc can connect with some utile devices wirelessly. The coolest part of this tool is to synchronize it with your smartphone and to transfer routes tracks sensor data, and technologies including live weather forecasts. By connecting this device with your compatible smartphone you can also get notified with emails, text, etc easily.

Also, you can share all navigation features with your friends Garmin’s handheld device simply pressing the “send” button. This is very convenient for outdoor use and can access other Garmin products such as action cameras, heart rate monitoring, etc.

Price

The budget is an important part when you buying anything. Likewise, Garmin GPSMAP 64SC comes at a reasonable price. I can tell you, compared with other Garmin 64 Series and similar devices, It is cheap in price and loaded with updated features.
